I’m a long-time consultant to cultural institutions. I often support institutional grant fundraising, particularly through major grant applications such as to the National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute for Museum and Library Services. I primarily advise leadership and staff on strategic engagement with environment and climate issues, and I coordinate the cultural sector of We Are Still In, the largest coalition in the World of non-national leaders supporting the goals of The Paris Agreement.
I work all around the country and occasionally internationally, and teach and write on these topics as well. I live and work in Tacoma, Washington, but travel happily and significantly.
After my graduate training at the College of William & Mary and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, I have worked as a permanent employee at the Valentine Museum, Concord Museum, and the Lexington Historical Society. For the last 20 years I’ve consulted with a range of institutions. Currently, or recently, they include the Detroit Zoological Society, Dumbarton House – National Headquarters for the Colonial Dames of America, The Abbe Museum, The John Hair Cultural Center of the United Keetoowah Band, Minnesota Historical Society, and the Philbrook Museum of Art.
